Lace Unravelled

Lace Unveiled presents work by contemporary artists inspired by displays in the rooms of Newstead Abbey - ancestral home of the Poet Lord Byron - alongside objects from the Nottingham City Museums and Galleries lace collection.

Works include Bragança and Mestre de Avis by Lisbon-based Joana Vasconcelos; a video commission by artist Joy Buttress and designer Manolis Papastavrou; new installations by Shane Waltener in the house and grounds and textiles by artist Lucy Brown

Part of a season of events, exhibitions and artist commissions to celebrate 18 months of research in to Nottingham City Museums & Galleries’ World Class lace and machinery collections. Organised in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University and supported by funding from Arts Council England (Designation Development programme) and The Grand Tour, includes 'Lace Walks' from Nottingham Castle and Lace Unarchived at Bonington Gallery.
